Jeep has long been known for its fun-to-drive, capable vehicles. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a great family vehicle and one of the most adventurous Jeep products. The Grand Cherokee can be had with several drive systems (all-wheel or four-wheel drive) that can be personalized for specific capabilities. Jeep has recently introduced two new variations of the highly popular Jeep Grand Cherokee - the Grand Cherokee L and the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The Grand Cherokee L offers three rows of seating, whereas the original Jeep Grand Cherokee offers two rows, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe offers a hybrid powertrain for increased fuel efficiency (and a smaller carbon footprint). Let's look at these exciting variations of the highly popular Jeep Grand Cherokee at Healey Brothers Chrysler Dodge Jeep.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is powered by a 3.6-liter V6, but a 5.7 liter HEMI engine is optional. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but certain trims can upgrade to all-wheel drive. Drivers should note that all-wheel drive is standard with the 5.7 engine option. What makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee outstanding is the drive systems that are available to increase capability.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee may be had with the Selec-Terrain Management system, which allows drivers to select the type of terrain on which they are driving. These options include snow, sand, mud, etc. The Jeep Grand Cherokee then responds by changing the gear ratio and providing torque to all the tires. This drive management system is perfect for drivers who may need increased capability because of inclement weather but don't want full-time four-wheel drive. The Jeep Grand Cherokee may also be had with either Quadra-Trac I or Quadra-Trac II. These terrain management systems allow drivers to utilize the all-wheel drive capabilities of the Jeep Grand Cherokee even further. Drivers should remember that the Quadra-Trac systems are only available on certain trims.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee's interior has recently been redesigned, offering a more modernized cabin that will please all family members. Upper trims offer such niceties as open-pore wood trim and quilted leather upholstery, but even the entry-level trims offer everything you need to ride comfortably.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers two rows of seating, and the second row may be folded down to increase cargo space.

All Jeep Grand Cherokee trims offer an infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Sirius XM satellite radio. However, an optional feature is a 10.3-inch front passenger screen.

Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L offers the same trims as the traditional Jeep Grand Cherokee and the same features. However, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L offers three rows of seating instead of two. For this reason, those with larger families may opt for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

Jeep excitedly announced the hybrid powertrain, the 4xe. This pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The motor offers 25 miles of electric driving range, or drivers may utilize the traditional hybrid performance to extend fuel economy. The 4xe powertrain will offer up to 470 lb-ft of torque. Jeep says the vehicle can sense when four-wheel drive isn't necessary, and it will cut power going to the front wheels. The 4xe is available only in the Trailhawk model, and an adaptive air suspension is standard with the 4xe model.
